Water Quality Supervisor – Indian Creek Water Treatment Plant
The Water Quality Supervisor (WQS) for the Indian Creek Water Treatment Plant is responsible for the quality of the water produced at the plant as well as its affiliated distribution system. The Water Quality Supervisor assists in the day to day management and operation of activities relating to maintaining quality control within the Authority. The Indian Creek facility is currently rated are 40 MGD but improvements are underway to increase the capacity to 50 MGD.
Essential duties:
Oversee operation and maintenance of the Authority’s laboratory facilities and equipment; enforce lab safety standards
- Direct the treatment and implement procedures to meet approved water quality standards
- Ensure adequate supply of treatment plant chemicals, monitor stock and purchase
- Research emerging water treatment methods/implement and manage water treatment processes and procedures
- Direct routine analytical work of the Operator
- Monitor water quality and ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations
- Respond to emergencies and resolve issues related to water quality and plant operations
- Train and supervise plant staff
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of equipment and facilities
- Participate in any Water Quality emergencies with the Authority or anything that would affect our waters, including Source, Treatment and Distribution at the behest of Water Quality Management or their Superiors.
- Support the Water Quality Superintendent as needed

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Chemistry, Biology, Geology or related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years operating a drinking water treatment plant, environmental laboratory or approved equivalent
- Hold or acquire the Water Works Operator Certification (within one year of hire) established by the applicable State and Federal agencies for the Authority’s water plants
- 5 years’ experience in drinking water quality and/or water treatment plants.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, General Database understanding, as well as understanding of ArGIS if possible.
- Must have excellent communication skills, customer service skills, and be comfortable working in various environmental conditions (boat, trails/ streams, sampling basements and along roadways, etc.)
- Must have a Valid PA Driver’s License.
